Help for church welcomers

Under the Special Allocations Ordinance 2007, the Mission Board has recommended that part of an amount unused during the 2003-2005 triennium be allocated to Evangelism Ministries for the production of a ‘Welcoming Resource’ DVD, leader’s manual and participant’s book to help churches with their welcoming strategies.

Election results

Peter Hicks was elected to Robert Menzies College Limited, and Standing Committee approved the election of Malveena Welsh as an indigenous member of the Sydney Anglican Indigenous Peoples’ Ministry Committee.

Mission Property fund

Standing Committee has approved the addition of $20 million to the Mission Property Fund. This amount, appropriated from the Diocesan endowment, will be used primarily to acquire land, construct and renovate ministry buildings, and invest in the campus of Moore College. Standing Committee will determine which projects will receive this funding and the priority these projects will be given. The Mission Property Committee will manage the Mission Property Fund to ensure that these projects are completed. The funding will be allocated to areas of the Diocese where there is a rapid growth in population and where projects are likely to encourage a significant increase in the number of persons attending church.

Asbestos inspection program

Standing Committee gave its support to a proposed asbestos inspection and management program, to be run by the Property Trust. The method by which the program will be funded is still being discussed. Standing Committee heard that such a program is essential to the Diocese, as identifying and managing asbestos in parish buildings is both a legal and moral responsibility.
