NATSICA (National Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Christian Alliance) released a statement in July detailing alternatives to the Federal Government’s emergency response plan for the Northern Territory. The Alliance endorsed the government’s intervention to address child abuse and control the use of alcohol and other drugs.

However the report found that a “two-pronged approach” using skills development and rehabilitation was needed to target the problem of low self-worth in indigenous communities.
