The Northern Region has had a diverse range of new rectors beginning ministry in recent months.
The Rev Keith Dalby took up the role of Rector at St John’s, Gordon in December. He comes from the drought-stricken rural parish of Warracknabeal in the Diocese of Ballarat in northwest Victoria.
“Part of my role was the pastoral care of the people there, encouraging them and helping them to be sustained,” he says.
Gordon is using the Mission Action Planning (MAP) pack from Evangelism Ministries and Anglicare to plan for growth.
Meanwhile the Rev Adam Street has moved from Assistant Minister a St Paul’s, Gymea to Rector of St Mark’s, Northbridge, where he has been since July.
He has arrived at a small church with 40 people and has started new ministries such as a youth program. “We now have about ten kids coming on Sunday nights,” he says.
The Rev Andrew Heron left his role as Senior Associate Minister at St John’s, Parramatta to become the Rector of St Columb’s, West Ryde.
“The church’s vision is to have 500 people in five years time. Currently we have 200 people. The people here are very open and willing to change for the gospel and help the church grow.”
