Pastors appeal to supreme court
Two Victorian pastors convicted of vilifying Muslims at a church seminar in 2002 will take their appeal against the ruling to the Supreme Court on August 21. Danny Nalliah (right) and Daniel Scot allege the judgement of the Victorian Civil and Administration Tribunal against Catch the Fire ministries under the Racial and Religious Tolerance Act was biased.

Christian women break the silence

A survey of Christian victims of domestic violence are the ‘tip of the iceberg’ of abuse in Christian marriages, says a Queensland researcher. Dr Lynne Baker from the University of Queensland surveyed women in active ministry and said women ‘are fearful of coming forward and not being believed’ by their pastors and church family. She found 15 per cent left church life due to their ordeal while others found support from pastors and said their faith in God helped them.

Tasmania merges strong churches

Two of Hobart’s strongest Anglican churches will merge in an effort to increase mission by offering more contemporary services and children’s and youth ministries. The parishes of North Hobart and Baywest will keep the same number of ministry positions. The plan includes a new partnership between St David’s Cathedral and Battery Point parish.
