For over two years, Toongabbie Anglican Church members Ben and Tammy Stanley have been active supporters of Moore College both prayerfully and financially.
Ben, a 34-year-old sonar engineer, and Tammy, a full-time mum to Jennifer, one, have been regular givers to Moore’s building and library funds.
When Tammy stopped working and they bought a house, they cut down to giving to one fund and remain committed to the college’s long-term vision.
“Having too many students is a wonderful problem to have but you still need to solve it,” Ben said. “The building fund is a way of meeting the needs of Moore’s growing student population.”
Ben says he has enjoyed the fruits of supporting Moore College by experiencing the ministry of its graduates.
“We can see the quality of clergy who have graduated. High quality clergy produce high quality preaching, which is so desperately needed,” he said.
“If people aren’t proud of what they go to listen to every Sunday, then they will be embarrassed to invite their friends along. If they are proud of what they hear, then they will be keen to invite their friends.”
Ben and Tammy have also experienced Moore College teaching first hand, having completed several subjects of the Preliminary Theological Certificate (PTC).
“Having done some PTC and seeing first hand the quality of the study materials used, we have been keen to support the college. It would be great to see the course keep growing and for more people to go through it,” Ben says.
Ben, who has experience as a university lecturer, says it is important for Moore to maintain a high standard of training as student numbers increase.
“I hear they have record crops of students coming in, so I hope they continue to give them all as good an education as the previous generations had,” he said.
