The first Connect09 Ambassadors have been trained and are ready to help encourage lay people across Sydney for the campaign which officially kicks off on February 8, 2009.

The Ambassadors program will run alongside a number of other Connect09 initiatives and is designed to help local churches enthuse congregations by providing lay people to speak about Connect09 plans and ways of connecting with the community. Vince Williamson, who is leading the Ambassadors program, told the first training session that he and his wife became Christians during an outreach in Lugarno in 1989.

“Without Connect89 we wouldn’t be involved in Connect09” says Mr Willliamson. “There are so many great things going on around the Diocese, we need to harness the power of lay men and women to reach the many thousands who don’t know Christ and don’t know anyone who does.”

The Connect09 team has also released further details of the ‘Big Day In’, a telecast/webcast that will link all congregations to launch Connect09. The telecast is at 10am on February 8.
