In the 41 years Beverley Donald has lived in the Fairfield area, she has observed the growth of many small ethnic based Christian churches, including ten Spanish language churches, and a decline in numbers attending the mainline churches.

The retired Local Studies librarian and St John’s Park parishioner documented the rich histories of Christian life in a new book, Foundations of Faith, which was launched in May by Fairfield Mayor Nick Lalich and Bishop of Georges River, Peter Tasker.
The book looks at the history of the churches over the last 160 years.

“People might see that some things from the past were good and learn from history,” she says.

Foundations of Faith is available from all Fairfield City branch libraries for $30. Ph: (02) 9725 0363.
