Anglicare’s emergency relief food supplies across Sydney are at an all time low. However, the dire situation for Anglicare’s Rooty Hill office has been averted thanks to the initiative of one Sydney parish.

“We had completely run out of food and were having to buy it ourselves,” said Philip Coller, Manager of the Rooty Hill welfare centre. But thanks to St Jude’s, Dural ‘that situation has completely turned around’. They now have 10 weeks supply of tinned food.

The Rev Fergus Semler, Rector of St Jude’s uses Anglicare’s winter tin collection as a way to build bridges into his local community for the gospel.
“If other churches were willing to join in, I’m sure we could help Anglicare all year round,” he said.
