CLERGY CHANGES

From Carlingford to Castle Cove

The Rev Michael Kellahan commenced as rector of St Barnabas’, Roseville East and St Philips’, Castle Cove in February. He was previously a senior assistant minister at St Paul’s, Carlingford.

Gerald says goodbye

After 34 years of ordained ministry, the Rev Gerald Beckett retired on April 30. He led the parishes of Belmore with McCallums Hill and Dural and served as archdeacon of New England in the Diocese of Armidale from 1997 to 2002. He was most recently curate-in-charge of St Basil’s, Artarmon.

Ernest enters Artarmon

After 13 years as curate-in-charge of St John’s, Kirribilli, the Rev Ernest Chau was appointed curate-in-charge of St Basil’s, Artarmon on May 1. Ernest brings with him Kirribilli’s Chinese congregation.

Dr Dale’s new challenge

The Rev Dr Paul Dale who leads the two the Church by the Bridge congregations at St John’s, Kirribilli began as curate-in-charge of St John’s on May 2. Paul will be assisted by Mark Smith, who will lead St John’s morning congregation.

VALE

Jack Richards 1917 – 2007

The Rev Jack Richards passed away on April 1. He was ordained in Sydney Diocese in 1943 and served as rector of the parishes of West Wollongong, Rockdale and Rose Bay.

Robert Evans 1927 – 2007

The Rev Robert Evans passed away on April 9. He was ordained in Sydney Diocese in 1952 and was rector of the parishes of St James’, South Canterbury and Christ Church, North Sydney. He was later assistant master at SCEGS North Sydney from 1967 to 1991.
