Clergy changes and vacant parishes for September

DEATHS

The Rev Greg Lees passed away on August 10, after a long illness. He was ordained in Sydney in 1999, and served as assistant minister at Penrith and Glenmore Park parishes before becoming a chaplain at Penrith Anglican College in 2001. Mr Lees had served more recently as chaplain at Burgmann Anglican School in the Canberra-Goulburn Diocese. He is survived by his wife Jane.

The Rev Jim Thomson passed away on August 16 after 10 years of retirement. Among his many roles in the Diocese were curate of Frenchs Forest, Normanhurst and Blacktown, rector of Albion Park, Auburn and Blacktown parishes, assistant NSW secretary of the BCA, and chaplain at Parramatta and Silverwater prisons. Mr Thomson also served as acting rector of Campsie parish two years after his retirement in 1997. He is survived by his wife Maisie.

MOVES

The Rev Gary Bennetts will take on the position of rector at St Martin’s, Georges Hall, on October 15, having served as senior assistant minister at St Peter’s, Glenbrook for the past five years.

An interstate move awaits the Rev Cameron Munro, who will become Senior Associate at Trinity Hills Aldgate, in the parish of Holy Trinity, Adelaide. Mr Munro has been the curate-in-charge at Denham Court since 2004 and has also been acting rector at Glenquarie parish in recent times. Mr Munro will leave these two posts on October 15.
