Musical minister hits Melbourne
After 11 years as rector of St Martin’s, Georges Hall, the Rev Trevor Filewood will move to the evangelical parish of Christ Church, Hawthorn in Melbourne Diocese where he will be associate vicar. He also brings his musical gifts to the music ministry team which he utilised in his days as host of Anglican Media Sydney’s Sing Me a Rainbow in the 1980s. Trevor and his wife Ilana will move to Hawthorn in late February.
Move not so tough on Mark
The Rev Mark Tough concluded seven years in full-time parish ministry last month, finishing his role at St John’s, Minchinbury where he has been rector since 2003. Mark has commenced as the Academic Registrar at Sydney Missionary and Bible College. Mark will still be authorised to officiate and be involved in teaching the Bible, taking up an honorary position at the parish of Beverly Hills with Kingsgrove during 2007.
Wood returns to Nigeria
The Rev Alan Wood and his wife Helen are returning to Nigeria to serve as missionaries with CMS. Alan will complete deputation, then training at St Andrew’s Hall, Melbourne during the first half of this year and hopes to leave for Nigeria by September. Alan will teach at St Francis of Assisi Theological College, Wusasa. The couple previously served as missionaries in Nigeria with Action Partners from 1981 to 1993. Alan has been rector of St Mark’s, Picton since 2003 and prior to that was assistant minister since 1999.
John joins North Ryde
The Rev John Chappell concluded his ministry at Holy Trinity, Mowbray last month where he has been assistant minister since 2003, to take up the position of curate-in-charge at St John’s, North Ryde.
Military man moves to Guildford
The Rev Tim Booker has concluded his role as chaplain to the 3rd Battalion of the Royal Australian Regiment at Holsworthy where he has served since 2004. This month he begins as the curate-in-charge of the new provisional parish of Guildford with Villawood, formerly a part of the parish of Woodville Road.
Kukulka stays west
The Rev Andrew Kukulka finished at St Stephen’s, Kurrajong last month. He was assistant minister since 2004. He commences as the new rector of the parish of Cambridge Park on February 15.
Mission minded man won’t retire
The Rev Peter (surname removed for security reasons) completed 11 years as rector of St Augustine’s, Bulli in January. Peter, 60, and his wife Lyne will become CMS missionaries to South-East Asia from January, 2008. They will train at St Andrew’s Hall and complete deputation during 2007.
Jannali receives new rector
The Rev Neil Fitzpatrick concluded his role as senior assistant minister at the parish of Carlingford with North Rocks last month. He has served there since 1998. Mr Fitzpatrick commenced as the new rector of Jannali on January 29.
Monk moves to south-west Sydney
The Rev Andrew Monk is concluding his ministry at St Paul’s, Riverstone this month. He has been curate-in-charge since 2001. He will become the new assistant minister at the parish of Rosemeadow.
Pratt family make CMS move
The Rev David Pratt concluded his ministry at the parish of Sutton Forrest this month after five years as rector. David and his wife Kathryn will train at St Andrew’s Hall with CMS and complete deputation during 2007. In early 2008 the Pratts and their two sons will head overseas to a currently undecided location.
Mozz moves to Northern Territory
After two years as assistant minister at Holy Trinity, Kingsford, the Rev Mozz O’Sullivan has moved to Darwin to become chaplain to the First Armoured Regiment at Robertson Barracks.
New role for Neil in mountains
Neil Atwood has finished as stipendiary lay worker at Toongabbie Anglican Church, where he was since 2001, to become the new associate pastor at Springwood and Winmalee Anglican Churches.
Teacher returns as rector
After four years teaching primary school at Penrith Anglican College, the Rev Patrick Collins returned to full-time ministry this month, taking over as rector of Christ Church, Lavender Bay. Before going back to teaching, Patrick was rector of St Anne’s, Ryde from 1995 to 2003.

Richard Andrew 1941 – 2006
The Rev Richard Andrew passed away on December 9 last year. He was ordained in 1969, served as a missionary to South America in the 1970s, was rector of Figtree in the 1980s and rector of St Paul’s, Wahrooonga from 1987 to 2002. He is survived by his wife Marjorie.
Ross Kennedy 1944 – 2006
The Rev Ross Kennedy passed away on December 1 last year. He was ordained in 1977 and served as rector of McCallums Hill and chaplain to Liverpool Hospital. He is survived by his wife, Jenny.
