As result of its mission, the Anglican Diocese of Sydney has a concern for how our society operates and how we as Christians can live as God?s people in our social context.
The Social Issues Executive seeks to help Anglicans and others to think through social issues from a Christian perspective, and to help them in their daily lives as they interact with their world.
The Executive is a committee appointed by the Standing Committee of the Diocese. The following people are currently appointed:
The Rev Dr Andrew Cameron (Chairman)
The Rev Michael Hill
Mr Darren Mitchell
Deaconess Margaret Rodgers
Dr Karin Sowada
The Rev Dr Andrew Ford
Dr Megan Best (on leave of absence)
Ms Tracy Gordon (Researcher/Writer)
For further information, please contact Lisa Watts (see inset box).
The work of the Social Issue Executive was once done by the ‘Social Issues Committee’. If you see the initials ‘SIC’ elsewhere on the Anglican Media website, you can assume it refers to the SIE.

We can be very glad that this society does not support abandoning people with disabilities to street begging, or killing off the elderly and frail, or allowing the very ill to expire alone in some corner. But the problem with this fine sentiment is what we fail to see. In some ways our society does allow these practices to occur, and when they don’t occur it is precisely because there are carers who care.
