NB: Southern Cross is not published in January
Plans are advancing for a week-long conference in Israel in June to set a vision for Global Anglicanism.
Titled the Global Anglican Future Conference, orthodox primates with leading bishops are set to invite fellow bishops, senior clergy and laity from every province of the Anglican Communion.
The vision, according to Kenyan Archbishop Benjamin Nzimbi, is to inform and inspire leaders “to seek transformation in our own lives and help impact communities and societies through the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ”.
Bishops and their wives, clergy and laity, including the next generation of young leaders, will attend.
The President Bishop of the Middle East, Mouneer Anis, expressed concern about the timing and location, although he sees the need for a meeting.
Archbishop Jensen has since met the Bishop of Jerusalem to discuss similar concerns.
The Nigerian House of Bishops passed a resolution in January supporting the conference, saying “We are firmly resolved to seek inspiration from the biblical roots of our faith”.

The community’s coming back to us
