Connect09

As Sydney Anglicans intensify ‘connecting’ throughout this year we will obviously encounter people who hold different views of the Lord Jesus.
Connect09's long awaited "external" web-site is now up and running at a familiar address: connect09.com.
I’m fairly new to Synod. I’ve been along to hear the Archbishop’s presidential address a few times. And last year I was in the public gallery listening to questions about some new venture he called “Connect09”. Unbeknown to me I’d soon be immersed in the campaign. Funny how things turn out!
Most of us don’t really want our church to change too much. I mean, don’t get me wrong: I am not saying we are entirely content. We might prefer this music, or the other preacher, but on the whole, we’re pretty comfortable.
Doorknocking is generally considered to be an extreme activity. The sky-surfing of evangelism. Well, perhaps without the ‘cool’ – but you know what I mean.
The names and locations that follow have been changed to protect the privacy of my neighbours.
What activities are you involved in at the moment that really involve faith?
Something we all know but have been afraid to admit about the evangelistic habits of Sydney Anglicans has now been laid bare by a market research.
With so many difficulties before us, is it actually worth attempting to unite to undertake a new mission initiative of this magnitude? Surely the question can reasonably be asked: “Why do Connect09?”
We now know that little daily choices can have a big impact on our carbon footprint. Well, the size of your "spiritual footprint" on the community works the same way...
What people want more than anything else is a sense of belonging, but the traditional fixtures that used to provide that feeling are in fast decline. Is this a primary connection point for Christians and their communities?
I had an epiphany during church on Christmas Day - a glimpse of church through the eyes of two 20-somethings sitting outside in a car.
It’s time to play your part in Connect09, and Archbishop Peter Jensen tells Russell Powell that you will find it a surprising experience.
In 2009 we are planning one of the greatest make-Jesus-known campaigns ever seen in this country. I am hoping that you and your church will be part of it.
