Three wise men to make appearance in Manly
December 21st, 2007

Anglican Diocese of Sydney Media Release on behalf of St Matthew’s Manly parish

Children in Manly will see the Three Wise Men on their camels arriving in the Corso for the annual Christmas Eve Children Services at St Matthew’s Anglican Church, Manly.

The special Children’s Services will be held on Monday 24th December, at 3.00pm, 4.30pm and 6.00pm.

The Wise Men will appear at each of the three services. One of the Wise Men riding a camel will be the Archdeacon of North Sydney, Terry Dein who is the Acting Rector of St Matthew’s parish.

“We extend the warmest welcome to all who choose to come, especially children as we share the wonderful story of the birth of our Lord Jesus on earth,” Archdeacon Dein said.

The church building is converted into “the barn” with bales of hay, and farm animals and there will be a procession down the aisle of the church of Mary and Joseph on a donkey. A number of local children will be involved as shepherds, angels etc.

Last year the church held two such services but many people had to be turned away because of lack of space. This year the third service has been added to cater for the larger crowds. This year there will be a ‘sausage sizzle’ at the gate for families waiting for the services.

Media are welcome to film, record and photograph the Christmas Eve Services
