Dr Peter Jensen, the Anglican Archbishop of Sydney, will be preaching at St Michael’s Anglican Cathedral in Wollongong over the Easter weekend.
On Good Friday, he will speak at the Cathedral Easter Convention, from 2pm. The Convention’s topic is the cross of Christ – its personal impact on Jesus and its public relevance for humanity.
Archbishop Jensen will be available for media interview at 1:45pm, or again, after the first session of the Convention concludes, at approximately 3pm.
On Easter Sunday, Archbishop Jensen will be speaking at our 10am, 5pm and 7pm services. His topic will be “The Historicity of the Resurrection”.
The Senior Minister of St Michael’s Cathedral, Rev Sandy Grant said,
“With recent claims of the discovery of the tomb of Jesus and books like The Da Vinci Code and Jeffrey Archer’s, Gospel According to Judas, historical questions about Jesus are back on society’s agenda.
In fact, modern historians give more weight to the early Christian resurrection stories than the general public may realise. A scholar of Dr Jensen’s credentials is well equipped to explore these issues.
It’s not often we get to welcome the Archbishop to our Cathedral. So I warmly invite members of the public to attend any of the services at which Dr Jensen is preaching.”
Professional photographs of the Archbishop are available for media use, online at your.sydneyanglicans.net.
St Michael’s Anglican Cathedral is located just behind Wollongong’s new Ibis Hotel, on the corner of Market and Church Streets.
