SC: What is your gut feeling about the Street Champion inititiative?

Beth: It’s a great idea. It is really good to be praying for the people around us. I think it will also be a great way to encourage women in the church to get involved in ministry.

SC: How do you feel about the doorknocking part that is coming up in Term 2?

BH: It’s pretty scary… but I’m also excited to see how God has been working through our prayers. Doing the doorknocking as a survey about the impact of our prayers will make it easier and less confrontational.

SC: Are you someone who feels time-pressured?

BH: Yes. I’m a student studying occupational therapy and sometimes I have to go to uni four days a week. Plus I work as a receptionist at a real estate agency all day Saturday and Sunday…

SC: …and you are also involved in ministry?

BH: … Yes, I lead the Years 9-to-11 youth group on Friday nights…

SC: … So will this be onerous on top of your other commitments?

BH: I don’t think so… because it’s something you can do when you are just walking past the houses in your street. I think it just means you have to make better use of the time that you do have.

SC: As you think about what the concept will involve, do you feel you lack competency or training?

BH: That’s something that has crossed my mind. But God has been challenging me this year in Bible study to let go and allow him to to work through me regardless. This [Street Champions initiative] came at an opportune time for me to put that lesson into practice…
