How are our ickle firsties* doing?  Dani?  Matt?  Nunc?  I know you’re probably flat out and as likely to answer in Greek as English, but if you’ve got a sec it’d be good to know what we can be praying for on your behalf.

Other college people - How are you going getting back into the swing of things?

In any case, know that we are praying for you and will continue to do so.

* No, I haven’t been reading Harry Potter.  No, I haven’t resolved to reread all five books before July 16.  And no, I definitely haven’t been musing on the nature of progressive revelation in HP canon while I’ve been doing it.

well, if the prospective second years are anything like me they’re in a mad rush to finish off their greek assignment ;-)

Love it. Just working my way through the canon now. Number 4.

Hey thanks Sophie :)

Haven’t heard from Matt or Nunc.  Joshua K is around somewhere too so I am sure he will pipe up.

I’ve found the transition to college and from home to MAC really great… and a fair bit ‘easier’ than I expected. By that I don’t mean the workload has been easier- but I think I have adapted better than I expected :) So praise God. Of course we are not in the full swing of things yet so I may have lulled myself into a false sense of security!

The first two weeks have been very full-on… not just with Greek (I have declared this afternoon a Greek free zone in Rm 110 @ MAC!!) but also relationally (sooooo many people to meet). I also got a bit of the flu halfway through week 1 and lost my voice for a while after our houseparty last weekend (It still sounds as husky as a drag queens!). But generally I have really been enjoying it. The girls at MAC are great (only 8 of us 1st years so we have been able to get to know each other fairly quickly) and it was great meeting lots of other 1st years and their spouses on the houseparty (though I craved a bit of solitude by the time Sunday afternoon rolled along!).

So- prayer? Yes please :) Thank God that I’ve been able to develop some semi-decent study habits so far (!) and please ask that he allow me to continue to improve on that. Please also pray for good time management for me (I seriously don’t know where the hours in the day are going!)… I can already see it is going to be hard to find time to do everything (particularly with some additional responsibilites at church). And lastly please thank God so much for giving me this opportunity and ask him to help me to never forget what a privledge and blessing it is :)

Thanks for the prayers guys :) I’m still checking in regularly- just not much time to post!

God Bless,
Dani

My head hurts too, probably because it can’t overflow but is about to explode. The highlight, aside from trying to learn the names of 97 other first years, has been lectures on what the world and life was like in the first century. Plenty of my assumptions have been challenged in good ways.

Another great thing? It is a privilege to have a prayer at the start and end of the day of classes. A great reminder that we’re not doing it on our own, nor that knowledge is our goal, but rather the continual push is to remind us of the goal of seeking to know God.

Oh how I wish I could Greek like Neo learnt Jujitsu.

Father

I pray for those who are doing the bible college
I ask you to power up their minds and strength their Holy spirits by your inspirative scripture.
For those who are doing it, they will be become ministers / leaders in the future teaching us your word.
Father, I pray that they won’t put your words like an academic exercise rather put it into practices.
Please help us to live till the final day.
We thank you what we got and the blessing from you.
Please help us to remember how your son crucified on the cross and what those meaning behind the cross are.
God, please deliver us from the evil; help us to speak your word by your spirit and illuminate the gospel and salvation to others.

In Jesus name I pray

Amen

WOW. I’m thrilled to read this thread. Thank you Sophie for starting it.

I’ve been wondering how study, Greek and the universe have been for you Dani. So it is great to read your post.

It is my motherly (I’m 45 in 6 months) desire to mother every one of you in my prayers to our heavenly Father.

God bless you
Angela

Hey Angela :)

I’ll let you know how study, Greek and the universe are treating me after our ’small, insignificant diagnostic Greek quiz’ this afternoon ;)

Thanks for your prayers for all of us :) You’re a huge encouragement :)

Now if you’ll excuse me I must get back to my personal pronouns…

;)

What 45??
From your writing style, I guess you are around 30 something. Perhaps, I’m the youngest one in here. Anyway, all the best for your Greek Study.

God bless

Dear Friends,
Please pray for our Federal government to have wisdom as they debate the issue of fee help.  Fee help is a system very similar to Austudy, but for private colleges.  Moore College has been working under the assumption that it would be passed as a bill by the Government without a problem, but there have now been amendments put up by a Green Senator (political persuasion not illness he is currently suffering from).  Please pray that Fee help would pass, it has the potential to allow many more people than would have previously to receive Theological training.

If it doesn’t go through pray for the money to pay for fees for those of us who have been assuming fee help would go through.

Yours studiously in Christ,
Simon Elliott.
