Last night in church I was asked to pray for Christians in Sudan. I only knew previously that there was a very bad situation there, and that nobody was doing something to fix the problem. If only Sudan had oil !!
After researching the situation in Sudan, I was appalled that this catastophre has been in motion for nearly 50 years following the independance of this country in 1956. It is genocide of non Muslims, and forced conversion to Islam.
I refer readers to this website Voice of the Matyrs - Sudan for reference, and hope you may spare a prayer for the rescue of the persecuted people, especially Christians, in this ravaged land.
Here is the introduction by the link:
Africa’s largest country is experiencing an onslaught of persecution. The Muslim government of Khartoum in the North has declared a jihad, or holy war, against the mostly Christian South. Omar Hassan al-Turabi, an Islamic leader, has stated that anyone who opposes Islam “has no future.” Muslim students are recruited out of universities and told that they can keep whatever they pillage if they join the war against non-Muslims. Since 1985, approximately two million have perished due to the genocide. Because of the war, famine has plagued the country as people are unable to plant and harvest. Families in the South are terrorized—fathers killed, mothers raped, and children sold into slavery. Yet in the midst of these atrocities, the Body in Sudan remains strong, worshiping their Savior and leading others to Him. Pray that Omar Hassan al-Turabi will come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.
Please read the other links on the site, and please add your prayer that the UN and the USA will come quickly to the rescue.
God Bless
Ken
