And if you ever spill beetroot on your white shirt soak in in milk over night and.... Abra Cadabra

And if your wearables are health conscious then skim milk works just as well as whole milk ;)

Edit: I should add that I found this out when my best friend all but threw a bowl of beetroot over both of us when we both happened to be wearing white shirts. The only reason I am not out on the streets is because it missed the carpet by about 1.5 inches

Do you think this might work on Matilda’s socks? I don’t think it is beetroot, just regular playground stuff.

Gordon,

I can be silent no longer: I never claimed my kids’ white socks were clean. But my kids must never, ever wear white socks outside the house such as in the garden or playground. Having a mummy meltdown is not a pretty sight.

Dani’s solution to beetroot stains is wonderful. In my ignorance I was applying full strength Morning Fresh to the stain before soaking the item in a bucket of tepid water for 3 days.

I use Morning Fresh on oil base stains eg lasagna and pasta sauces. Works every time. This handy tip was passed on to my mum by a dry cleaner.

And another thing : I never, ever wear a white T-shirt. I am simply unable to resist the temptation to spill, soil, spray some stain on it.

BTW did you, sometime in the 1980’s give a couple of talks at a Greek Bible Fellowship house-party at the request of Archie Poulos?

Adam,

How’s the mould?

cheers

You can always try. Might need to add Milo though ;)

PS. Know what completely wierded me out about it? The milk pulled out all the beetroot but stayed white. Someone wanna explain that to me?

(I think that this was the topic ;) so,) Just out of interest, have you been able to remove the mould?

Yes, that was me. 1985, Zac and Sheree Veron, John Diacos (married to Elizabeth yet? can’t remember) and all sorts of other multicutlurals. A fun weekend. Can’t remember what I spoke on but.

I never claimed my kids’ white socks were clean. But my kids must never, ever wear white socks outside the house such as in the garden or playground.

Yeah fair enough. But they’re sports socks, so I can’t really not have matilda wear them round the playground. They slowly go a bit grey and the toes are really quite black in parts. It’s a bummer. Enkidu your idea is great but it is part of a uniform.

I think we need a biologist or physicist in here.

High pressure steam cleaner might work really well.

+ in the words of Homer Simpson

Can’t someone else do it?!

forget cleaning stuff with Bicarb Soda, what you wanna do with that stuff is to get a BIG BIN full of it, plop it down with the lid open, then pour a couple of litres of white Vinegar and slosh it all over the Bicarb. Now that’s fun! Watch it explode into a big bubbling fountain. What would be cool would be if you could mix the two with a small release valve so it spurted out all over the place. so cool.

okay… so I’m infantile.

I often watch “Bright idea” on Sat noon in Channel 10. They always sell steam cleaner ad in the program.
Steam cleaner is a costly solution, which cost around $ 300 something. I will leave it for the last try.

P.s “Bright idea” only sell their gadget online. And some of the ad are often quite exaggerate the uniqeness of the product features and functions to attract customer vision.  Their business modle firm is quite “Americanisation”

ooh, er, costly. I wonder if I could rig up a home made one with some of the stuff I’ve got ‘round here… iron, hot water bottle, dremel, stapler…

You could get your home espresso machine and hook up the steamer wand to a length of hose for a cheap and dangerous alternative.

No, but surely since the dawn of time people have been harnessing the power of steam to clean their bathroom tiles and alloy wheels.

Could be worse.  A friend of mine got a steam mop for his birthday.  To replace the one that broke.

If only there was a way to get hot, steaming water into the shower recess..  Some kind of plumbed in system would seem ideal to me.  Perhaps with a water heater attached and a series of valves to regulate the flow of hot water into the area.  I’ll have to look into that.

I might get my dremel after all :)

Alternatively you might like to consider hooking up a sock and a length of hose to a steam cleaner in order to get your daily long black.

Cheaper, after all, than buying a new Gaggia.

Your idea will become a Hospitality industry norm in the future

That’s what we dream about “a real unique taste” espresso with some kind of special aroma.
