I always enjoy reading the stories in The Two of Us section in Saturday’s Sydney Morning Herald. There have been stories about colleagues, couples, siblings, neighbours, friends and almost any combination of two people you can imagine.
Phillip and Peter Jensen got a run some years back, more than I think it is, I expect.
This weekend’s story was no less interesting, and was about Ron and Ruth Brookman. Ron is a former Uniting Church minister, who married his second wife Ruth in 1994. Two years later he told her about his past as a gay man.
The article is well worth reading if you can borrow or buy a copy. Not available online. Ron has also shared his story on ABC TV Compass and other places, as a Google will reveal.
The most interesting thing to me is that he was permitted to express his view of homosexuality as sinful and as something he believes he has been delivered from.
