I have been reading and thinking about the book of Job over the last 12 months lately. One of the things that has struck me is that the book is not just about God and Job.

At the end of the book Job says, “Up till now my ears have only heard about you, now my eyes have seen you I repent in dust and ashes” Its also interesting when we look at Isaiah who prophesied great things against those around him, that some time afterward’s he had a vision of God and cried out “Woe is me, my sin is so great”...or words to that effect any way.

What caught my eye though in the book of Job recently is that God also spoke to his 3 mates. He said you guys have not spoken of me correctly also, now go and make a sacrifice, Job will pray for you and I will forgive you.
I am wondering though what happened to Jobs wife? Why didn’t God speak to her about her way’s? She urged him to curse God and Die! Though the Scripture is silent about it, could be that Job found himself another wife, who bore him another 7 sons and 3 daughters?

So it’s not only Job who got a revelation of who God is, it was the community around him also who finally not only just heard about God, they finally saw God for who he really is.

Could it be that we all need to truly pray Lord, help us not to just hear about you, but truly see you as you really are?

Hi Craig.
I’m enjoying David Jackson’s Crying Out for Vindication - the gospel according to Job, from The Gospel according to the Old Testament series, edited by Tremper Longman.

I think you would find it helpful as you ponder Job.
