The St George/ Sutherland Shire TEAR Group is a bunch of christians who are committed to
loving and serving their community and spreading the Gospel of Jesus, through the pursuit of social justice.
We explore ways in which,as people blessed by God in one of the richest nations in the world, we can better serve those who are marginalised and vulnerable.
As one of the first events the group is putting on, we invite you and your friends to the “World’s table” - to think about food – our food, the food of the poor and hungry, everyone’s food – over a shared meal in the context of the world’s food crisis.
The evening will also include delicious food, live entertainment, chai tea, and the one and only Deborah Storie, talking about poverty, justice, the Bible and us.
There will be plenty of opportunity for questions and discussion - both formally with Deb as well as informally over a cuppa with others.
Deborah is TEAR’s deputy Chair, and a member of its Program Review Committee. Previously a fieldworker facilitating community development in rural Afghanistan (1992-98), Deborah now works part-time as a veterinary surgeon while studying theology and teaching biblical studies, aid and development. She is an inspiring visionary and a great storyteller and is currently completing her PHD in biblical studies.
