Video Watching

To the webmaster,

I’ve found watching videos on SydAngs a difficult experience. For instance the latest Mark Driscoll video has been ‘loading’ for the last 10 minutes and has not yet played. With other videos on SydAngs I find it takes a long long time for the video to play as it takes a long long time for my computer to download it. This is not like other videos I watch on YouTube.

The ABC News Online site has the best video watching experience I’ve ever encountered. The videos rarely need to buffer or you rarely need to pause the video to let it download the rest of the video. I don’t know how they do it, but the fact remains video watching on SydAngs has much room for improvement.

It’s all a friendly remark and I hope something can be sorted out.

Good luck!

Have a good one,
Simon

Hmm I dunno, I’ve had the same problems using two different computers, locations and browsers.

Simon,
Brightcove is the video provider Sydneyanglicans.net use. The videos are stored on a server in USA. One of the main reasons we went for Brightcove is the farily good bandwidth to Australia. I’m using ADSL2+ with IINET at home and the download speed is average 4-500 kb/s. So far I have not had any problems downloading videos.
I would like to hear if someone else have the same problem Simon explaining. Send me a PM.

Kind regards,
Robert Moller

I find the longer the video the longer it takes to load. If others are finding the load time slow we could chop up longer videos into smaller bites. Time for dinner.

I also have video playing issues...same problem - endless loading then a message saying it’s not available.
