Like many older people I suffer from Presbycusis (I don’t think it is related to Presbyters). This means that softly spoken voices or voices with background noise and poor acoustics cause your inferior circuitry to NOT decipher the words.Note that increased volume only makes the matter worse. Sometimes the problem can be solved by good acoustics and amplification,eg
# The great hall at Sydney Uni ( small directional speakers along the sides of the hall)
# Adelaide Concert hall ( don’t know why)
# Abbotsleigh Girls School ( large directional speakers at front of hall)
However I want to address my complaint to the Preachers who believe a sermon should have no passion, little eye contact and like reading a book to your self. You don’t have to be like HItler where I can understand what he is saying even though I don’t speak German. [Removed! - Luke]
My favourite Preacher is a little old lady with just enough passion to give force behind every word.It seems you have to use a bit of force or energy so that words can be heard clearly.
