Now with the emergence of the funky little ‘search forums’ tool at the bottom of the home page forums box, we can easily search the archives for ground already trod.

I wonder, does this signal the end of new forum topics, since we can now revive old threads with a new angle as new ideas bubble up?

Is there really nothing new under the sun?

Not too frequently by the one person on the one thread. I’ve been told that’s “spamming”. ;-)

In some of the science forums I visit there’s a biofuels thread that’s been running for 4 years, a hydrogen thread that’s even longer… and on it goes. The threads are so long that contributors end up bookmarking the relevant posts and having long arguments about what has or has not been covered in that thread.
