Hi there,
I hope this is the right forum section…
I came across this story recently and am not sure what to make of it…
This is said to be a true story of a young couple in Nepal. I have no reason to doubt that this happened.
‘As one after another the witch doctors left their house, the couple faced the bitter truth. No one could help them now. Soon their sickbaby girl would be dead.
The family had performed every Hindu ritual that was required. They had faithfully worshipped at the many holy shrines and temples. They now ask ‘Why are my God’s not answering when I need them most? Why are they angry?’
That same day a stranger arrived at the small village, telling about a new God of whom they had never heard. He proclaimed this Jesus was able to forgive sins, give eternal life and even heal the sick, provided they put their faith in His name.
In desperation, the couple begged this native missionary to come and pray for their dying girl. He did, and the Lord confirmed His word by healing her. The miracle led both parents to believe in Jesus as their only God and Saviour.
I have heard of people in the west going to healing services and beinig told that they did not have enough faith to get healed. This can be very destructive for the person.
In the above story, they similarly proclaim that faith will bring healing. Is this legitimate in this context?
I have a lot of respect for this organisation but am not exactly clear on how I should respond to the above story.
Your biblical input and insight would be greatly appreciated.
