Wow! Can we PM you when we have a problem? Do you accept full responsiblity for everything that goes wrong? Can you do the slightest thing about it? And (what I really want to know is) when people complain, does anything happen, or are you just paid as a kind of therapeutic emotion-absorber?

I’m pleased to report that both buses I caught today were running just late enough to enable me to catch them :-)

Matthew, what was that you were saying about anal?

Oh dear. Mirror, Mirror, on the wall, who is the most anal of them all?

How about non-transport related problems?  I can’t get the border of an internal nested div to touch the outer div on the right hand side.. The right rear tire on my car won’t hold 40psi pressure (it slips back to 36psi over a couple of days).  When I erase something I have written on my whiteboard, it leaves a green smudge that only spittle seems to remove, but I worry about the accumulation of spittle on the whiteboard.  Paramount still hasn’t confirmed the release of The Italian Job for region 4 DVD.

Now there’s an idea, setup a general complaints line.  Wouldn’t really solve any problems, but it would let people vent.

eg.
“Stupid IE6 won’t display the spacing on div’s correctly”

Threaten the computer with references to open windows and 10 storey buildings. If that doesn’t work trash the entire file and start again from the beginning ;) Always works for me ;)

Eucalyptus/Tea Tree Oil. Also works magic on marked crockery.

And prempting your next problem Rowen:

The way to remove beetroot stains from your white t-shirt is to soak it in milk overnight. Either full-cream or skim will do the job.

Dani, clearly you have never worked an IT help Desk (or ever spoken to one).  The universal solution to all computer problems is to close windows, not open it !

Enkidu, my pseudonym, should correctly be written thus: http://ww3.maxwell.com.au/test/lilenk.gif
My real (first) name can be transliterated as follows: http://ww3.maxwell.com.au/test/name.gif

I am married, and have two boys (just 4 and almost 3).

Disclaimer: the following represents a very incomplete account of my existence.

Likes: Cats, the ancient Near East, semitic languages, linguistics, maths, physics, MacOS X, Linux, BSD. And chocolate.

Dislikes: MS Windows, HTML code with too many DIV tags ;-), fireworks.

Distractions: The Goons, SciFi, Tintin, Asterix. In regards to TV, I recommend: Batman, Get Smart, Northern Exposure, Due South, Red Dwarf, and Jonathan Creek. I also endorse Scott’s approval of Roger Ramjet. Oh, and “Seeing Things” (does anyone remember that?) Regarding movies, I am pleased to see that many of us share a fondness for The Princess Bride, but clearly others have omitted Groundhog Day, Support Your Local Sheriff, and many of the movies starring any of Humphrey Bogart, Lauren Bacall, Audrey Hepburn, or Cary Grant!

In light of the various obscure age references others have made, I will say that I have just passed 11.65 parsecs.

My new life began in a Uniting Church, but since then I’ve been Anglican, Baptist, and am currently a Pressbutton.

I have basically spent my life studying, but fund my life working with computers.

Oh, and I dearly wish Jesus would return soon!

I realise that this has nothing to do with anything … but I’ve just spent the last ten minutes playing with it and just had to share the joy.

Hint: Make sure your volume is turned up and then click on each of the character’s heads one by one
