Greetings all,

Your.sydneyanglicans.net is renovating its ‘Classic Podcast’, turning it into a selection of MP3s from the best evangelical preachers world-wide. One stream with a wide variety of your favourite preachers. You can read more about it here

We’re currently podcasting the excellent ‘Desiring God’ series by John Piper - check it out!

So, we’ve got permission to post sermons from John Piper, Don Carson, JI Packer and Mark Driscoll. We’re also made approaches to John Stott and Rico Tice.

Who else would you like to recommend we add to the list?

Tim Keller
includng his talks at the Evangelical Ministry Assembly 2007 in the UK,
- these were superb.
(Tim Keller was visiting there from New York.)

Unmerited favour and peace,

I know they might be difficult to obtain, but I would enjoy the opportunity to listen to preachers from Asia and Africa.

Some slightly ‘left-field’ suggstions from the US:

William Willmon (US Methodist)
Ellen Davis (Professor of OT from Duke Divinty School).

Cheers,

Mark

Thanks for all of the suggestions so far. We’ve had one pass at Tim Keller, but he’s currently selling his sermons, so the prospect of a relationship where we give them away might not be so attractive.

But keep the names coming - they’re very helpful.

(I should add that John Dickson, along with Peter and Phillip Jensen, and John Woodhouse and a number of other Sydney Anglican luminaries will be included of course. I was just looking for names a little further afield...)

Hi Mark,

There are 21 free “sample” messages from Tim Keller here.

Perhaps he would be agreeable to you using those?

Grace & peace,
Terry

Hope the Joel Osteen was a joke. Surely you weren’t being serious?

I was being serious, and don’t call me SHIRLEY.

Thanks for the links to Martyn Lloyd-Jones and Tim Keller. I note that the site admin geezer can’t spell Martyn Lloyd-Jones, but.

The Don Carson mp3s will be appreciated. Most of his stuff on the net is not free of charge, I note.

Billy Graham,
so we can appreciate how a gospel message held the attention of tens of thousands at a time.

I must say I don’t understand the thinking behind evangelical preachers (such as Tim Keller and Don Carson) charging for Internet downloads of most of their messages.

Grace & peace,

Terry

I have been meaning to say this for a while:

Vaughan Roberts, Rector of St Ebbe’s Oxford. It should be a simple matter of contacting the St Ebbe’s office to arrange this.

Vaughan has spent a long time learning from Sydney, but as someone who has sat under his teaching for a couple of years now, I am here to say that Sydney preachers could learn to do Sydney preaching better from Vaughan than almost anybody. Great stuff.

I think it is really important that we don’t just have American preachers - the personality cult thing is very much a feature of ministry there.

Hi Terry.

I whinge about the charges by Dr Carson and Mr Keller [sounds like Robert Louis Stevenson!] ... or is it Dr K?

However, I assume that they may say that they want the sites that have their downloads to pay for themselves. I am hoping that it is not intended to raise money, though I acknowledge they have a right to earn their keep from their speaking, as Paul told us.
