Interested to read Mark Hadley’s review of Black Book.

I’m wondering if Mark or any one who has seen it could comment on the music? I’m interested in Anne Dudley’s body of work, and have enjoyed her music for Jeeves and Wooster, Kavanagh, QC, The Full Monty and The Miracle Maker. I’ve been listening to her earlier effort, Ancient and Modern, a CD of reworkings of hymns and folk tunes, which I like very much.

From what I read, her Art of Noise collaborations might not be my cup of tea, but.

Hi David,

Am I right in thinking that this is your second post in the last few days that ends in a conjunction ?

Cheers, Kevin

Hi David,

I can’t say that the music actually impressed itself upon me at any particular stage, though some film makers might say that this was a good thing. What I do remember was that Black Book was an intensely emotional film and the music must have played some part in generating that atmosphere. Further, the story-line was more than usually accessible despite the it being in two languages other than English. Again, a film’s score tends to have a role to play in supporting the most communicable aspects of its story.

Those who want to read more about what I have to say on Black Book are welcome to read my review but. ;)
