Hello, I’m involved with three others in leading a Friday night outreach that involves dinner, singing , “God talk” in an around-the-dinner-table low key approach(sometimes using dvd gospel or Introducing God excerpts), and later, games (pool/board games etc). So far we have connected with 6 previously non church attenders, mostly with low literary/ concentration levels . Is anyone else doing something similar? It’d be great to learn from others on the same path. Jonathan Wood.

Hello Terry, when we started it was as a Friday night service during the holidays (18 months ago )when nearly all churches suspend their evening services. The pot luck dinner became part of it early on ; guests don’t have to bring anything. A friend , met at a party, came along and has invited most of the others that have come. It’s been word of mouth advertising but it is about to be advertised in the community newspaper ( We are in Mosgiel, New Zealand). About 8 church members are involved in preparation or running of the evening. Age range is currently40s to 90s ..All happen to be single but that is very much not deliberate. But there are many who have no one to share a meal with regularly. Two have started coming to the Sunday morning service. Regards, Jonathan.
