I used to collect these suckers, but I am finding them harder to discover in Sydney Diocese than pipe organs and choral evensongs.

Can anyone help? Does anyone else have a collection?

How could you have managed a collection? Is this a confession?

I always felt very nervous about offering to wash them, knowing that there was the possibility of mixing up one with my own.  Someone could have come to my home and discovered it. There is always someone with the ability to know when one is missing.

By the way, tablecloths are valuable items and are right up there in the collection stakes.

My absolute fave is the one that I got from the Mothers Union that shows the Diocesan boundaries in Scotland. I also like the St Andrew’s Wahroonga ones that we got when we were at church there in the 80s. My wife threw out the CMS one as it was getting a bit raggedy, which was disappointing.

I am surprised that it wore out. My mother had one that had a 1975 calendar on it that looked as good as new until not very long ago. We have ones we were given when we were married (in 1990) that are still as good as new. I think they are made out of some sort of indestructable fabric that makes them impervious to wear and tear - maybe they could make the Space Shuttle’s exterior out of tea towells.

Either that or I never dry the dishes.........

Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter:
Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man.

I have a supply for sale in my office; it has a picture of the Church with a bit of its history.  In nearly two years working in the Church office, I haven’t actually sold one yet, so I can’t remember the price, but if you’re interested in adding to your collection, it looks like a top quality item.  I also have coffee mugs!

Gordon, I can get you a Centenary Tea Towel for St John’s Kalgoorlie 1986-1996 if you are interested.

If this is the right place to confess odd collections...... I have a number of shoe boxes of paper table napkins dating back to the 1960s - my grandmother collected some on her travels, and when I took an interest as a boy - she gave the lot to me, and then my relatives kept adding to the piles every time they travelled interstate or overseas - many of them are from long deceased airlines, hotels and all sorts of places and commemorative events.  Not added to for a long time.... unless I notice one of particular beauty:-)
