a personal request this time.

Yesterday my daughter Sophie was bumped in the school playground and fell flat on her face. She has had 2 teeth broken and was in hospital for about 3 hours yesterday. She is sore and bruised and most of yesterday was very ‘weepy’ and because of her other problems cant tell us what hurts.

We took her to her dentist (who specialises in people with disabilities like Sophie and who was good enough to fit her in at 8 am) today. He doesnt want to crown her teeth yet - or maybe at all- because he is unsure whether the nerve has died in one and if so that will need a replacement tooth (root canal therapy) and also because the normal crown process creates a very hard tooth- good for most people but if Sophie were to fall again like she did yesterday with crowned teeth the whole tooth is likely to come out and damage the gum quite badly.

Just one more problem.

Peter, thank you for telling us about Sophie’s injury. I am praying she will be able to endure the treatment necessary to repair her mouth, and that you will be given the strength necessary for the many situations you go through with Sophie.

Hi mr kirsop,

what a sad thing. I know how upsetting it is when one of my little girls is hurt or sick. May God sustain your family.

Thought I’d split this out into a separate thread too, hope that’s ok…

Peter that is distressing and I am sorry to hear of it.

I pray for you, your wife, Sophie and other children to be full of peace and not in any confusion , that Sophie will not be in pain, that she will quickly heal and that your son will understand why his mum has to miss his school presentation, and not be wounded by this. May God grant your dentist and doctors wisdom, and continual protection for you and your family over the Christmas break, and that some how you will come to see a blessing of God come out of all this.

Peter

I’m sorry to hear that.  Sophie’s injury sounds pretty painful and bad. May our Lord Jesus Christ answer your prayer and give you guys comfort.

God bless

an update and a way of thanking those who prayed

Sophies arm was either not broken or marginally broken (we are not sure ) she is out of plaster. She is to have root canal therapy on 12th Januaary which for her means a day in hospital.  She will be a sore girl for a while. ITs affected her eating. She seems to have lost confidence a bit. but she is seemingly happier now again

Mr. Kirsop

That is great news - I am so glad to hear that Sophie is getting better and her injuries were not as bad as first thought. You and your family have been much in my thoughts over this holiday period. I will be thinking of Sophie on the 12th.

I wish you and they all the best for the new year.

“She just said that [skipping + playing] is what children do,” said Roland.

Tiffany wondered about this. As far as she could see, children mostly argued, shouted, ran around very fast, laughed loudly, picked their noses, got dirty and sulked. Any seen dancing and skipping and singing had probably been stung by a wasp.

Thank you for your concern.

Sophie’s operation went well. She coped very well even walking out of the hospital to the car. Sadly she had a severe fit on Wednesday but again she seems well now.

Both my sons have given me cause for joy and thanksgiving ; James in getting a Commonwealth Assisted Place for the rest of his course (and yes I have read the Sydney Morning Herald) Andrew in impressing the business for whom he did work experience so much that having a lot of work on this month they have offered him work till the end of school holidays (As well he will be working there as part of his school based traineeship)
