With a little help from our friends

Greetings Posters!

Sydneyanglicans.net has been looking for ways of ensuring the forums keep their friendly tone without having to ‘don the jack-boots’ so to speak. One has been to post up the ‘Posting Policy’ which everyone signed up to when they registered as a gentle reminder. If you haven’t refreshed your memory yet, let me encourage you to do so here…

We have also enlisted a little help from regular posters to make sure some of our more heated discussions don’t overheat. Consequently, Gordon Cheng and Mark Tough will join Luke Stevens as forum moderators. They’ll be exercising their ‘jedi powers’ in line with the above policy, particularly when staff members might not be available over the weekend. They’ve also assured me that they aren’t planning any trips to the Dark Side, so no worries there. (Though, come to think of it, Luke has been sporting that dark cloak of late...)

I’d like to encourage anyone who has concerns about behaviour in the forums to please contact me by PM or email. I will do my best to respond promptly.

Thank you Mark, I think that having additional moderators is terrific scheme.

Would be nice to get a female voice also sometime in the future.  With all due respect to our brothers - who so far have done a great job moderating - it cannot be denied they are brothers and may not at times see things quite the way their sisters do…

I’d offer my assistance, however the demands of the job God has given me makes my presence on the fora now only occasional!

Regards,
TZ.

“She just said that [skipping + playing] is what children do,” said Roland.

Tiffany wondered about this. As far as she could see, children mostly argued, shouted, ran around very fast, laughed loudly, picked their noses, got dirty and sulked. Any seen dancing and skipping and singing had probably been stung by a wasp.

Good stuff.

A mate of mine is a Mod on the Overlander site.  He regularly trolls through the membership over there and deletes all those spammy ones that pop up regularly.  I’ve noticed there’s a stack on this Forum.  Like;

and

Might be worthwhile getting up close and personal with the old <delete> key on these suckers.  JMHO.

Thanks Anthony. I have moderator super-powers but, er, not that super. Someone more superpowerful than me will be along in the near future, no doubt, to explain matters.

But I like the smell of nasturtiums… why aren’t you casting the bouguets of nasturtiums?

Thanks for the suggestions guys!

Yes, we’d be very keen to add a female to our moderating team; I hope to have an announcement on that front shortly.

Also, we’re aware of the spamming memberships at the moment; that too should be taken care of shortly. I’m happy to announce that the Multimedia team is being expanded by a part-time staff member called Dean Johnston who will be helping me cope with the vast number of administration tasks that the Benevolent (and it seems Omnipresent) Dictator used to handle - one of which will be the membership database!

[quote author="Mark Hadley"]called Dean Johnston

I thought that the Dean was Jensen, not Johnston. But, then, I’m not in the Sydney diocese, so what would I know?

Cheers,
Andrew

I know a few people named Dean, and none of them are jokers
