Thanks for those articles. I’ll have a closer look later.  Dr Carson seems to me to be very much on the ball, although I do think he is a bit simplistic regarding so-called inclusive language (which is really a particular form of inclusive language- “man” is inclusive, but the “politically correct” people don’t like it.).

inclusive language

It seems to me that there are places in the bible where it is important to use “man” in an inclusive sense, such as Genesis 1, but that some inclusive words [on David Morrison’s definition] such as ADELFOI [formerly translated BRETHREN] do not sound inclusive when they are rendered as BROTHERS.

To me, BRETHREN and even BROTHERHOOD, sound[s] inclusive, but BROTHERS sounds like a bunch of blokes.
