Adam,

Try Exit Mold. Just follow the instructions. I recommend leaving it on for a couple of minutes before rinsing it off.

cheers

Or, you could buy a Dremel with one of the cool grout cutting extensions.  Then rout out all the grout and re set it with new grout.  Make sure you fill the bath tub with water before you apply the grout though, or it’ll crack.

Sure it’ll cost you a weekend and lots of money, but you’ll have a great excuse to buy a dremel.

are you sure it’s mould?  in my experience exit mould shifts it, even if it has to soak… for instance it might be a stain..

..in which case bleach scrubbed into the grout with a stiff brush might help.  I also think you can et grout colouriser, which skins the grout with the colour of your choice..  don’t quote me on that though ;)

Adam,

Ten deep breaths and a quiet cup of tea is a must. I have an appointment with my daughter’s teacher so I’ve got to go. But I’ll post what I’ve found in one of my ‘how to clean anything’ books when I get home later this arvo.

all is not lost. we will conquer this dreaded scurge on humanity;-)

ach, already tried it. Didn’t work.

Someone told me that some weird method of using bicarb soda might work, but no one knows what it is.

I’ll wait with bated breath for the AMS community to come up with the goods…

ooh - that’s a good one. Have you soaked overnight in Napisan? Or just used that dodgy in-the-wash one?

Bathroom grout: paint it white.

White cotton socks: dye them black.

Man, we soaked those suckers for 40 days and 40 nights in Napisan, still no result. And it’s just schoolyard dirt, it’s not like it’s sump oil or sumpin’.

Never been to Napisan myself..

I had a pair of jeans that spent 40 days in a tub in ‘San after catching a stray grass stain.. they still get flashbacks about it…

Adam

Wait seven days. If it hasn’t gone, knock down the house.

Adam, I do believe that the best method to remove the mould is set out in Leviticus.

ESV Leviticus 14:34 “When you come into the land of Canaan, which I give you for a possession, and I put a case of leprous disease in a house in the land of your possession, 35 then he who owns the house shall come and tell the priest, ‘There seems to me to be some case of disease in my house.’ 36 Then the priest shall command that they empty the house before the priest goes to examine the disease, lest all that is in the house be declared unclean. And afterward the priest shall go in to see the house. 37 And he shall examine the disease. And if the disease is in the walls of the house with greenish or reddish spots, and if it appears to be deeper than the surface, 38 then the priest shall go out of the house to the door of the house and shut up the house seven days. 39 And the priest shall come again on the seventh day, and look. If the disease has spread in the walls of the house, 40 then the priest shall command that they take out the stones in which is the disease and throw them into an unclean place outside the city. 41 And he shall have the inside of the house scraped all around, and the plaster that they scrape off they shall pour out in an unclean place outside the city. 42 Then they shall take other stones and put them in the place of those stones, and he shall take other plaster and plaster the house. 43 “If the disease breaks out again in the house, after he has taken out the stones and scraped the house and plastered it, 44 then the priest shall go and look. And if the disease has spread in the house, it is a persistent leprous disease in the house; it is unclean. 45 And he shall break down the house, its stones and timber and all the plaster of the house, and he shall carry them out of the city to an unclean place. 46 Moreover, whoever enters the house while it is shut up shall be unclean until the evening, 47 and whoever sleeps in the house shall wash his clothes, and whoever eats in the house shall wash his clothes. 48 “But if the priest comes and looks, and if the disease has not spread in the house after the house was plastered, then the priest shall pronounce the house clean, for the disease is healed.

Good luck on finding a priest. Oh, and you might want to stock up on hyssop.

49 And for the cleansing of the house he shall take two small birds, with cedarwood and scarlet yarn and hyssop,

Adam,

Hope you’re sitting down. I know what bi-carb (its also called baking soda) - and get this, you can eat it. Well, you add it to cakes and biscuits like ANZAC biscuits...yum. It’s a cheap white powder-like substance which comes in a blue and white box (McKenzie’s Bi-carb) which is available from all good supermarkets.

I make a paste in a plastic bowl using bi-carb, white vinegar and lemon juice (this an optional ingredient). It’s great on laminex and removes coffee and tea stains which can be notoriously difficult to move. It does leave a grainy film so it’s important to wipe afterwards with a damp sponge.

One of my ‘how to clean anything’ books recommends

spray on a solution of vinegar and liquid bleach and wipe clean with warm water.

I’ve checked another book (11 year old wedding gifts) and it recommends

revive the grouting between the tiles using a little bicarbonate of soda mixed to a paste with bleach. Apply the paste with a toothbrush and leave for several minutes. Rinse well and dry with a soft cloth

I might try these ‘recipes’ out myself.

I’ve never had so much fun with someone else’s mould before.

About white socks - they are forbidden in this household except for the 2 pairs each my children have as part of their sports uniform. I absolutely love your suggestions Enkidu - you must write a book of Enkidu’s handy hints for the busy person.

And I think this is one of my longest posts in a while which is tragic.

Keep us informed Adam. And may the force of bicarb be with you
