Last weekend we were in Sydney for the Animae (Japanese Animation) Festival, which is greatly anticipated by my son each year. On the Sunday evening we attended St Andrew’s Cathedral Bible Talks.
A BIG “Thank you” for a very friendly greeting before the service started, during the 5 minute break and over supper. I would like to thank a couple of people in particular -
Mandy, the women’s minister for initiating a friendly welcome before the service;
Dean Phillip Jensen for a lovely chat over a cuppa during a break in the service, which caused me to cry tears of thankfulness;
Helen an ex-GBF member like me. It was so good to catch up;
Thesspina, a vibrant, caring and enthusiastic Greek sister-in-Christ, I hope to laugh with you again; and
Daniel Wheadon who spent time with my teenage son and impressed him (and me) greatly with his kindness and friendliness, and who showed Christian perseverance as 2 crazy Greek women (Thesspina and me) talked up a storm.
And to Martin who preached a faithful and clear message. Being in Christ is glorious indeed.
If someone from the Bible Talks reads this, I would very much appreciate that you pass my thanks on. It is truly a blessing to be part of God’s family and to be loved like my family was on Sunday.
Thanks Angela for your encouragement. It’s always nice to hear when we get something right!
I’ll make sure to let Mike Turner (not Martin) know that you were challenged by the semon and enjoyed your time with us and pass on your greetings to Phillip, Helen, Despina and Dan. You’re welcome back any time you find yourself in Sydney.
I’m hoping to come to 10.30 and 6.30 in 2 weeks time. Not only is there the attraction of you and your crazy family :) but also the Don as in Don Carson! Who in their right mind could pass up an opportunity to hear him talk?!
Love to Jimmy, a dear and much loved brother-in-Christ, of whom I have the fondest of fond memories
I’m 157cm or about 5’2” tall (or small), short wavy, mousy coloured hair and I’m cuddly.
Now what can I hold or wear that would help you to recognise me from all the other cuddly, 157cm small women? I could carry my family of yellow ducks you sent me a couple of years ago. I’m open to anything that allows me to keep the small amount of dignity I have left after having 2 children.

Hi Angela,
As we have three children, are you implying that we don’t have any dignity left ourselves ? Maybe just stand near the pulpit and do a Zorba dance - that’ll get my ( and everybody else’s ) attention. After morning tea how about we meet outside the bookshop - an obvious spot for me !
Cheers, Kevin

You mean that you and Lynette do? After 3 kids! When we meet we finally meet, you’ll have to explain how you managed it.

Lol! The bookstore! Yes, of course. Such a sensible and dignified suggestion and that’s why I couldn’t think of it since I have no common sense or dignity left...but lot’s of joy and laughter.
I’ll still bring along big and little Kev Duck.

I know and I wish! It is my understanding that this convention is booked out, which is great.

Hi Angela,
That took me by surprise - as I hadn’t yet booked. But I just went online and was able to secure my place - so they are still taking bookings - or payments anyway ;)
On the other matter, I guess we’ll just have to compare our definitions of what ‘dignity’ entails - perhaps we lost ours long ago and cannot remember such a concept ! Looking forward to next week.

Mandy’s a gem. I have the great privilege of partnering with her in kids’ ministry this year!

I’m really glad you felt cared for by my friends at cathedral.
