Whatever happened to Southern Cross online

What has happened to the links to Southern Cross on the Sydney Anglicans website? The breadcrumb trail (http://www.sydneyanglicans.net/southerncross/) points back to the home page, yet there is no link on the home page to southern cross.

A few months ago it was easy to find with a link from the home page. But now the home page does not even include the name South Cross. The only way to find it, especially the PROMOTE SOUTHERN CROSS page is to search for it. Is this a deliberate decision? If yes I would be interested to know why.

A related question… do you plan to publish the stories in SC about Street Champions online? I am keen to publish links to these stories on our parish website as I do for any stories featuring our members.

Cheers
Grant.

Southern Cross is linked from the highlights button just on the right.

You can find Southern Cross as a image under Highlights and under Section finder.
We have not done any changes when it comes to Southern Cross the last 18 months.

John

It is not a really intuitive position there. When I looked thru the menus, I couldn’t find it. So I used FIND and couldn’t find it.

Couldn’t you develop a more conventional menu than the current system which is VERY HARD to find stories. Most newspaper websites have more intuitive menus.

Will the Street Champion stories be published on line???

Grant.

I usually using the Section Finder to find the sections on the site, if I look for a spesific article, I use the search engine. Since its a Google search engine, I find it pretty good. I don’t think the Street Champion article is posted yet. If you have a questions and requests regarding articles, email the .
My job is to make the tech side of the website as good as possible. I have noticed you are not big fan of the site navigation, so I will remember this next time we review the site.

Greetings Grant,

Would the ‘Street champions’ story you are referring to be this one?

Meet our street champions?

It was our feature story for the week beginning May 12 so that would explain why you hadn’t seen it when you posted. It also appears in the May online edition of Southern Cross. It is the top story.

As to finding ‘Southern Cross’ online, let me refer you to the ‘Section Finder’ at the top right of every page. It is next to the search field. The link you are looking for is the second heading down.

However, that said, we will take into consideration your problems finding the page and particularly your comments regarding the organisation of the stories themselves. Clearly we want to do everything we can to ensure that people can read the stories we post.

Upon re-reading your post, I believe that part of the difficulty you may have encountered in this matter may have more to do with our posting policy than navigation, though.

Sydneyanglicans.net doesn’t release all of the news stories in the current edition of Southern Cross on the same day. They tend to be staggered across the week before and the week after it is released to the parishes. This is because many of the stories are associated with specific times prior to the print publishing date (and so go up earlier), are developing news (and so go up later) or are held back to give greater prominence as a feature (as in the case of the above story).
