Thanks to our heavenly Father for the faithful team of servants at St Andrews Cathedral who proclaimed the word of Christ to our nation.

Pray for those who remember and grieve: that they may know the comfort of our wonderful God.

Yes indeed!  The Lord used his godly servants Phillip to preach powerfully and Peter to lead faithfully, and he worked through all the others who participated both up front and behind the scenes.  It was very moving to witness the depth of emotion and the conviction behind what both Peter and Philip said.

My heart was warmed by knowing that the gospel was proclaimed clearly on an occasion that is important to the nation.  Yes, let’s pray those who watched on TV and those who attended may have their hearts opened to the gospel of true hope.

It would be nice to listen to the talk that Phillip gave- does anyone know if the Cathedral has a recording and is going to put it online?

Yes, the only bit I saw on the news was about one sentence from the Kevmeister. Also the ABC introduced the report on the wireless with the obligatory organ music from the Cathedral pipe organ, the aural equivalent of the stained glass window to set the scene.

Yesterday I asked the ABC if they could repeat the show on ANZAC day.  They said that they did not have ‘ the rights to repeat the presentation’.

Yesterday at least part of the service was showing on those hanging-from-ceiling screens in the Sydney Central Plaza food court (a few floors below Myer).

I only realised it when, instead of the news+commercials tripe that normally blasts from those screens, I heard the Cathedral gathering in the middle of the tune of “Now thank we all our God”.

I looked up & couldn’t believe my ears. Then I rejoiced - it was so nice, if unusual, to hear an organ-accompanied hymn in a CBD food court!!

The hymn went on, as the camera filmed shots of the Choir, PFJ, the very important politicians in the front row pews...it wasn’t even an obligatory “newstime” clip!

And it was still going at least 5 mins. later when I had to head back to Town Hall to catch a train.

So I suppose you could call that partially “televised”.

“She just said that [skipping + playing] is what children do,” said Roland.

Tiffany wondered about this. As far as she could see, children mostly argued, shouted, ran around very fast, laughed loudly, picked their noses, got dirty and sulked. Any seen dancing and skipping and singing had probably been stung by a wasp.

If you want a copy I would contact ABC Program Sales

As well as the above mentioned highlights, Kevin Rudd’s prayers were heartfelt and genuine too.

Phillip’s sermon is up on You Tube and will be on this site soon. Slight delay because of recording problems. It was a great sermon, very appropriate in the circumstances.
Search You tube for “HMAS Sydney Phillip Jensen”

Hi,

There still seem to be some intermittent issues with the audio recording in Phillip Jensen’s address when downloaded.

(I don’t know whether people who heard the ABC’s live feed also experienced that problem?)

However, it is absolutely worth persevering with.

This address is real oratory, which I think is fairly uncommon in SydAng-land these days; 8-)
and says everything that needs to be said in 15 minutes!

Grace & peace,
Terry
