James 5 and prayer

Looking back over our prayers is a very good idea, if you are as forgetful as I am.

We had prayer for rain at a combined local church service, but I did not recognise the rain when it came as an answer to prayer for some time, to my shame.

I’ve looked over a list of prayers and seen that God has answered several of them, but would not have known this if I hadn’t written them down.

We all need a prayer diary to help us acknowledge that our God hears and answers prayer.

Thanks for reminding me, Robert.

Thanks for the encouragement Robert!

Steve from An Evangelical Dialogue on Evolution pointed me to this talk by John Polkinghorne (mp3) titled ‘Can a scientist pray?’ which I found quite helpful (albeit a little mind bending with the quantum physics, heh!), so that was good for opening up a few doors in my previously quite mechanistic view.

The talk there is hosted by The Faraday Institute for Science and Religion which has a very interesting collection of audio/video material (lectures basically) too, for anyone interested.
