My 21 year old daughter “dragged” me to achick flick during the holiday period. The movie was Juno but don’t ask me to tell you who the actors were.

The movie told the story of a 16yo girl who became pregant to her boyfriend on the first occasion of intercourse. The awkward bumbling relationship which saw a fairly tame sex scene att the beginning of the mvie was examined throughout the movie as they discussed the pregnancy, the options and finally her decsion to have an abortion. However a word from one of her classmates outside the clinic persuaded her not to proceed with the abortion.

The rest of the movie follows her journey through pregnancy and decision to adopt this child to a wealthy family through a private solicitor. The irony being the people who have everything but a child are dependant on someone from the other side of the tracks to fulfil their lives. Without spoiling it for those who have not seen it the movie takes an unexpected turn prior to the birth of the child.

For those who have seen it my question is do people think this might be a movie that reshapes attitudes to abortion?

Do not conform any longer to the pattern of the world, but be transformed by the renewing og your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is - his good, pleasing and perfect will.

Hi Eddie,

I saw the promo clip for Juno recently while watching another chick flick with my wife and I have read some reviews of it.

I haven’t seen the movie yet but I hope it will be helpful for some people.

Grace & peace,
Terry

Dunno
I thought that part of the movie pandered more to the extant anti-abortion lobby in the USA. (Although it made them look a little silly- but then, it made everyone look a little silly)
Beyond that though, the story would have been, well, a non-story.
I liked the movie. At first I was thinking “great, a teenage chick flick. Someone get me a bucket.”
But I quickly fell for Juno’s sassy wit and style and the story engaged great themes. The issue of abortion being, I though, less significant than the issues around relationships. I laughed solidly throughout and was well pleased I went.
