Hi guys,

Some of our writing team want a hard deadline to work to, so I’m more than happy to oblige.

The original deadline was for the beginning of March, but this is a joint-writing exercise not a boot-camp, so we’ve been pretty lenient with it all. Andrew and I will do a rough assembly of the stages in a week or so and then send it round to all the team for comment. So if you could aim to have your piece in by March 21, that would be most helpful.

Cheerio,

Mark

Hi All,

An update on our stable of writers for this project…

Stage 1 - Andrew Lim

Stage 2 - James Cartwright

Stage 3 - John Hollier

Stage 4 - Lachlan Orr

Stage 5 - Rachel Sinclair

Stage 6 - Dannii Willis

Stage 7 - Mark Hadley

Stage 8 - Andrew Tilsley

Stage 9 - ???

Stage 10 - Craig Schwarze

And, yes, as you can see, we’re still lacking someone to tackle Stage 9, despite my best advertising efforts. So finally I’m prepared to go back to the team and offer ‘seconds’. Any takers? **cough** Andrew? **cough**

Looking forward to reading your submissions,

Mark

Hi, I’m pretty new at this . I’ve just started chapter 5 and I have a few questons.

At the moment I am calling Faithful - Paul Faithful. What is he being called elsewhere? Also what has Apollyon been called (I have no idea what to call him.)?

Do I have to include all the scripture references? At the moment I am strugglilng with putting Proverbs 22:14 “the abhorred of the Lord shall fall into her pit” into everyday language and it doesn’t seem necessary. I’m also not sure what to do with “put off the old man with his deeds” (Col. 3:9) because modern translations call it a former life but i still have an old man as a character. Can I use another text that means something similar and has the same effect on Faithful or do I stick with something similar to the original?

My chapter also refers to Moses and the house where Pilgrim met him. It would be helpful to know how this is described by the writer of Chapter 4 before i proceed with this bit.

Thanks, Rachel.

Alrighty, I’m done with the majority of my chapter, still playing with details but I’m happy with the gist of it.
So I’m wondering what happens now:
Where are we sending it to (and in what format)?
Are we reading / critiquing other chapters to smooth out any potential rough edges (not that there would be any in my work of course *cough*).

Lauchlin, I emailed my rough draft to Mark Hadley. I sent it as a Word document.

Maybe we should all try to meet for coffee one Saturday morning or something.

Greetings all,

It’s been a long time between posts but we’ve almost assembled all of the chapters now - 2 outstanding, you know who you are ;)

When they are collected, we’ll flick them around in one document for all of the team to have a look at.

In the meantime, Andrew Lim suggests that participants might enjoy this offer from Christianaudio for a free audiobook of Pilgrim’s Progress.

I leave it to you to decide…
