I think we need to define the difference between what a prophet may speak, and what prophecy is.

A prophet can preach a sermon, make an observation that may not have any specific reveltory information in it and it not be prophesy. I don’t think just because a prophet spoke it, we have to consider it as prophecy. On the other hand, Scripture would also suggest that any one can be annointed at times to prophesy, yet not be considered a prophet.

I think Christians experience a prophetic unction more often than we believe, such as in the role of prayer. How often do people have the burden to pray for someone in a specific manner, that in the natural they had no way of knowing to pray for that person / situation in that manner?

No more than you with Agabus! After all, much of what Isaiah says is “you’ve sinned and you’re going to cop it.” There are details, of course, and there are things that couldn’t be based only on what was already revealed, but a large chunk is really an application of the curses found in Deuteronomy. That’s pretty much what Agabus seems to be saying, as well (although Agabus is not quite as vociferous as Isaiah!).

Depends what you mean ;-). Isaiah wasn’t really revealing something new in announcing God’s judgment on sin, but there were details which were new. I think Agabus is doing something similar: the warnings had been given before, but the details were new.
