[PR] Car Accident

I was involved in a car accident, coming home from work in the dark and wet tonight. The car may be written off, which is a great shame because we’ve only just bought it, and we’re not keen on car-hunting. I’d hoped to keep our light green 2000 Toyota Camry for about 7 years. And I’ve only just put a CD/MP3 player in it and have been enjoying listening to talks and music on my trips.

The policeman and the tow truck bloke were very kind. [Those tow trucks don’t take long to arrive, do they!]

I’m OK, but have a sore chest and arm, and it is hard to eat, which may be due to a headache or sore jaw. [That might be a good thing .. hard to eat, not the sore head].

My wife is in hospital in Orange 50 kilometres away and probably will be for at least the next 4 weeks.

A trusting soul in our church has offered me the use of his car to go and see my wife tomorrow. I usually go up there every two days.

I will do it, if I feel OK in the morning, after being checked out by a doctor.

I have booked a trip to Devonport,Tasmania for Monday, next week to see my lovely 97 year old Aunty Ruth, the last member of my dad’s family.

When I was very young, Ruth told me the story of Peter being released from gaol [please note the spelling, Sydney Morning Herald]. I think this is now my earliest memory. We were sitting on the floor, in the dark, and when she knocked on the floor to represent Peter knocking on the door, after he was rescued by the angel, I nearly jumped out of my skin. But I was excited at how God had delivered him.

I’m hoping I will still be able to go, and don’t want to lose the money paid for the flights. Someone else has kindly paid for the trip, and I don’t want to have them spend their money in vain.

Also, I’m preaching at church on Sunday, which I’m looking forward to doing.

It was a pleasant day until ten past six.

Praying for all sorts of things here; firstly thanks that you were not seriously harmed.  Then for full recovery, wisdom, preaching and travel.  And an easy purchase of a “new” car.

Hi David,
Praying for healing for Joan and yourself and for God’s leading in all the things you are dealing with in the near future.
The peace of the Lord be with you and yours.

Hi David
I am thankful the accident was not a lot worse, and pray that your wife will have a good recovery, and that God will give you peace and wisdom.

I pray you will both have a quick recovery, that your sermon will go well and that you won’t miss your trip. God bless!

David,

I thank God that you are OK. I hope and pray that you make a speedy and full recovery, esp. in the light of your sermon and upcoming activities. Praying for Joan and your upcoming activities too.

Thanks again, everybody. Off to the doctors in a few minutes.

Two men in the church have offered me a car till I have one. I was able to visit my wife in Orange, due to Ron’s kindness.

It is now confirmed that it was a write off.

Further update:

I am grateful to God for the people in our church who have generously loaned me cars, enabling me to visit my wife in hospital, and get to work.

My chest is a lot less sore now [from the seat belt], and the bruise on my arm is fading.

Today I looked at another Camry, and decided on it. Unfortunately costs more money and I couldn’t get a 4 cylinder car, as I’d wanted.

I have just discovered that my car insurance, which I paid for the period 23rd June 07 - 23rd June 08 does not get reimbursed, though my car went deady-bones on 5th July. And I’ve found that other companies do this too for write-offs. Picked a bad time to have that accident, didn’t I!

Thanks to those who were concerned for me.

David, there is NO good time to have an accident.  But the good news is that you’re well enough to even consider it
