I frequently enjoy Michael Spencer’s Internet Monk site. His discussion on evangelism is worth reading, and I was interested to see him endorsing Two Ways To Live , but also amused when he was guessing that the emphasis on Christ as King and Lord betrays the influence of Tom Wright!

What is TWTL’s provenance?

I’m guessing it is about 20 years old? Would you believe 10?

Thanks for that David!

I ducked over there and added this comment:

Hi Michael.

I work for Matthias Media, the people who publish Two Ways to Live. David Mackay is right (hi David!), Phillip Jensen, the dean of St Andrew’s Cathedral in Sydney wrote Two Ways to Live. He’s not a supporter of the views of NT Wright, so it would be surprising if this was an influence. Graham Goldsworthy is a more likely candidate (author of Gospel and Kingdom), although Phillip himself is a sharp theological thinker.

The Two Ways to Live Gospel outline was written in 1979, and used in follow-up training for the Billy Graham crusade in Sydney that year.

Anyway, thank you for your positive review!

TWTL is very good, but I’m disappointed it doesn’t mention baptism in its explanation of the gospel, as the NT does.

I can see several reasons why this is the case, including the interdenominational first use of TWTL, as explained by Gordon.
