God does answer prayers

This isn’t a “request for prayer” thread but rather a “thank you God, heck yes!” thread.

Y’see, I’d been out of work for awhile (about 11 months, ugh), and it was getting really frustrating and demoralising as I applied for job after job only to be turned down. One job I applied for ages ago was an admin job at Moore College. When I didn’t hear back from them, I assumed that I didn’t get it, but I eventually did hear back from them after going to an interview for a job I didn’t want but felt that I had to take if I got it as I needed work. It turned out that I didn’t get the admin job at Moore College but they thought my résumé would be good for a position that was going in the bookshop at Moore Books, and would I be interested. I said heck yes I would be.

Well, I got the job. Been there about 3 weeks now and it’s going good.

I think there was a lesson about a patience or something I was supposed to learn in the time out of work up until I got this job.

Anyway, God is cool. That is all.

*dances a jig*

Come and say hello and buy books off me.

Yeah ha,

Great news indeed Mark,

as craig b grabs your arm and does a bit of a country how down

Our God really does hear and answer our prayers, and can do so immeasurably more than all we Ask, Think, or Imagine he can do according to his power that is at work within us.

Blessings craig b.

p.s one of my favorite quotes is that there is one thing I like more then praying, and that is when God answers my prayers, but of course to get a answer, one first must pray.

Cool, man.

I slightly disagree with your point. I’ve been learning patience for more than a decade but I’m still in there, I cannot beleive it. Is there anything to do with patience? Emm I think you got a job is a great blessing from God, so you can perform the tasks you want to do. Good on you.

P.s I heard CMS needed some volunteer in summer school and then I applied it. Then no news at all.........yeah, I’m quite disappointed by CMS how they handle application.

I believe I already have.  Thanks for your help today (unless there is more than one new guy at Moore Books).  Glad to hear the job was an answer to prayer.  Praise God.

OTOH yours was a new face and you were, shall we say, a little hesitant… ;-)

Mid arvo, returned bookstall, left with books on evangelism, also discovered Moore Books appears to have no books on academic research, hmmm.

Ta anyway.

Does MB by any chance stock the new “Lily” series (children/young adults)?  Don’t be afraid to say you don’t!!

{The books in this series make interesting reading, but must be taken with lashings of salt and should never be read by pre-teens without teacher guidance towards criticism of the Christian faith and worldviews displayed by the young main character...oops, off-topic...}

It’s nice when God answers prayer within a ten-year period, isn’t it?

Although I’ve been praying for my closest unbeliever friend since 1995 and while he’s definitely more open to hear me out now than he was 11 years ago, he’s definitely not a Christian yet…

“She just said that [skipping + playing] is what children do,” said Roland.

Tiffany wondered about this. As far as she could see, children mostly argued, shouted, ran around very fast, laughed loudly, picked their noses, got dirty and sulked. Any seen dancing and skipping and singing had probably been stung by a wasp.

I had a look today at work - we don’t have it in stock at the moment, but I assume we could order it in if you wanted.

10 monthish was much better than 10 years.

Yeah, I have a number of unbelieving friends where it feels like it’s hopeless. It’s frustrating.

But eh, God got me in the end after 24 years of resistance, so anything’s possible I figure.

One of my friends became a Christian last year, I emailed him to see how he was going and we ended up having a big discussion on all things religious and Christian, and he told me after a while that he’d become a Christian.

He was baptised on Good Friday.

Another of my friends became a Christian while we were still at school, and yet another a few years after. I hadn’t seen/talked to him for a few years and then I spoke to him and he told me. I thought he was having me on, as he was the biggest anti-Christian I’d known - he decided to hate me for a while at school because I was Christian.

It’s great when God prompts people like these, but know that he’ll do it in his own time. And they may refuse him. Which sucks.

In other thanksgiving, today is my third anniversary, and my wife and I haven’t killed each other yet :)

Cool!

Conversions in the face of strong opposition and faithfulness to marriage vows are definite thanksgiving points!

Marriage is a gift from God; a great blessing. It should be honour.

Don’t worry Ray, I take it very seriously, but it’s fun to make a little joke now and then.
My wife (and therefore my marriage) have been a huge blessing. I’m so thankful God gave me Jen.

Hey Mark,

I’ve been, I’ve said hello, and I’ve bought (way too much!)
Glad to hear about the answer to prayer.
Hope you are settling in well.

See you in a couple of weeks.
