It’s a boy! (as the subject says!).

He didn’t end up flipping over, or being born normally, but on Sunday morning my wife Jen ended up in surgery and at 10:01 we got our first look at Jesse Edward Tyrrell.

Follow the link up top for photos.

Thanks everyone for your prayers.

Ian,

Congratulations to you, your gorgeous wife (how on earth did you manage to score such a beauty?) and Mat.

Normal? What’s normal? Some people think it’s mum in squat position or on all 4s in a rice or wheat field delivering her baby. For others it’s at home surrounded by loved ones. The again others believe it’s in the birth centre of a hospital. And for your wife (and me x2) it’s via caesarian section. Come to think of it, the rice field is pretty much abnormal!

Jesse has the most amazing eyes. May there come a day when our merciful God opens Jesse’s eyes to the truth of the gospel of our Lord and Saviour. May Jesse respond to Jesus with thankfulness and acceptance.

Thank you for sharing your happiness with us: it’s infectious.

cheers
Angela

Hi David Ould.
God gives us a lot of blessings. The blessing of being a grandparent is a very special one, I think.

Of course :)
It was finding a great name that began with ‘J’ that was the problem ;)

Mat’s initials are MAT (Matthias Albion Tyrrell). So he gets recursive initials.

I think it must be, Jen and I were discussing that at the hospital, that one day (hopefully) we won’t be just parents, but grandparents too (and how wierd that would be :)).

My dad only got to come to the hospital yesterday (Wed), as he’d been sick when Jesse was born and didn’t want to get him sick too.

[quote author="Craig Schwarze"]I guess you had a good reason for missing cathedral yesterday ;-)

Yeah, I thought about coming, but I’m sure Jen would NOT have been happy at all :).
Won’t be there this coming Tuesday either - should be there the week after though.

[quote author="Angela Crittle"]how on earth did you manage to score such a beauty?

Beats me. God has blessed me hugely.

[quote author="Angela Crittle"]Jesse has the most amazing eyes. May there come a day when our merciful God opens Jesse’s eyes to the truth of the gospel of our Lord and Saviour. May Jesse respond to Jesus with thankfulness and acceptance.

Amen to that. I’ve already had words to him about this (when he was all of 10 minutes old), and those words will continue as he begins to actually understand them :)

And he does indeed have amazing eyes, he was following me around the room from the minute he was born. His brother has great eyes too (not to mention their mum, she has green eyes with sunflowers in the middle (incredible!).

Thanks all for your comments and prayers.
