Refer to the article “Church Property Destroyed as Larry lashes Qld.”
*Please pray for all those affected by this natural disaster in the north. *Pray that the homeless will find shelter, that the farmers will renew their crops, that finances will be made availble by governments and NGO’s to assist people to restore lost property and assets.
*Pray for our Christian brethren that they will be ‘salt & light’ to their community, showing faith & compassion.
*Pray that God will enable the Bishop & clergy to lead their people with integrity and good judgement for prioritising the tasks to be undertaken.

I think we can also thank God that lives were spared.  In fact I don’t think anyone was reported dead (well, according to SBS World News last night at 2130 hours).

Certainly no Hurricane Katrina (thousands dead).

Nor a subcontinental earthquake (tens of thousands dead).

Nor the Indian ocean tsunami (hundreds of thousands dead).

Give thanks, we got off pretty lightly!

“She just said that [skipping + playing] is what children do,” said Roland.

Tiffany wondered about this. As far as she could see, children mostly argued, shouted, ran around very fast, laughed loudly, picked their noses, got dirty and sulked. Any seen dancing and skipping and singing had probably been stung by a wasp.

God’s intervention?
A stroke of genius?
Whatever it is, the appointment of Peter Cosgrove to head up the disaster relief in Innisfail is wonderful.
He’s proved to be a “can do” bloke with a compassionate heart and a no-nonsense attitude.
We should pray for him now as he begins this massive task and for those in his team.

My third contribution urging prayer for this situation in the Far North.
Please refer to the article “Cyclone Charity Desperately Needed”
Please pray for generous responses to the appeals from BCA and the Bishop of North Queensland so that people can get their lives back together again.
Thanks
