Hi all, long time no post.

It’s funny that Simon posted this about using church websites for evangelism because I’ve been meaning to post something for a week or so.  We’ve started recording and podcasting the sermons from Glenmore Park Anglican Church.  We’re currently recording the sermons from the 5:00 & 7:30 services (unless they’re the same sermon) and so far we’ve got every week since the start of the year.

It’s not yet integrated into the main church website because we’re still beta testing, but please subscribe (or just download from the site ) and let me know what you think of it.  Specifically I’m after opinions on the file size, recording volume & quality.  Opinions about the theology can be taken up with the preacher directly :)

You could maybe put an indication by each link that it is not just a normal webpage that is being linked to, i.e. something like (mp3 ... kbs) or similar by each link.

Maybe a note saying “Right-click on the link and select “Save Target As....” to download this mp3”. Also it would help to have some indication in the file name about where the sermon sits in the current series - something simple like ‘Gen22’ so that someone who downloads several at once (like myself) know what order to listen in.

Apart from that, it’s a very slick setup. The files are quite small but the quality is fine, and the two sermons I’ve listened to so far have been excellent. Nice work!

PS: I just noticed that SA.net automatically links bible refs to the Bible Gateway website… how cool is that?!?

David / Ben, thanks for the comments.  The design points are well taken and we wioll probably implement them once it’s integrated into the main site, we’re not intending to continue using the WordPress blog layout in the future.

David, good idea about the sequence title, that would probably make things much easier for people who don’t actually use the podcast, but download manually.

BTW David the bible references on the podcast blog are done automatically with a plugin too, ain’t modern technology grand? :)
