Hi guys,

I’d appreciate your prayer regarding my health. I came down the flu a week and a half ago, have been on antibiotics for over a week and it just won’t go away. Everytime I start to feel better the next ‘stage’ hits me the following morning.

I’ve taken a full week off work (and feeling guilty since there is no one to take over my job really) and only lasted 2 hours in the office this morning before I tucked my tail between my legs and shuffled home.

It’s just VERY annoying! And I’m bored out of my tree sitting at home watching day-time TV. And then I realise I should be thanking God it is just the flu and nothing more serious!

So please pray :) For my mum aswell who can’t shake hers either (Don’t worry- we’ve quaranteened the house).

Dani,

Just a picky question - why are you taking antibiotics? Flu is a viral disease, and anitbiotics are only effective against bacterial (not viral) infections. Do you have a secondary, bacterial infection that the antibiotics are prescribed for? The antibiotics won’t help the flu or the flu symptoms disappear one bit faster.

Praying for you, too.

Timbo

I tend to just use ‘flu’ to describe the awful cotton-wool stuffed head feeling, hacking cough, keeping Coles in business by buying out their stock of tissues, not having enough energy to reach down and pull up the blankets kind of thing. I think it is more of a chest or sinus infection actually. I trust my doctor though to prescribe the right thing :) I’ve been going to him since I was born and he hasn’t killed me yet ;)

Flu! ARGH!!

Dani,

Please take the advice of about 1000 doctors. I have been around for about twice that many years!!

The way to deal with flu or colds is this:

Inhale steam - boil up your kettle and add the water (with - if you want) vapour rub or methol type glug) to a bowl. Place a towel over your head ( helps to make one more attractive to the opposite sex) and breathe in through the nose and mouth (whatever turns you on at the time)

You should try a cold and flu night/day tablet remedy to take away the accompanying (naughty) symptoms as well. Or paricitomol helps somewhat.

Try not to think about mailing any more messages to this post for at least one week. And most importantly get plenty of rest until you are ready to put in a healthy day at work.

Stay away from draughts and wind, get yourself at peace with your health.

If your phlegm gets that green or yellow appearance dont worry, but if fevers come then antibiotics are next option.

Hope all of this helps.

I have heard that the abundance of native blossoms causes problems to hayfever, which leads to colds.

Also recent studies have come up with the conclusion that upward or downward trends in status cause sickness. EG if you lose your job, get divorced, get a proposal etc or have a argument with a close friend, fall in love - any change in your life status - you fall ill!!

Just post me $75 for this help, or contact with further details.

Flu! ARGH!!

Dani,

I wanted to add the following scripture verse for future reference - 1 Peter 3:1-6 for your future edification. I pressed the wrong buttons in the previous post!!

Tell me about it. I’ve been home for the past week with the flu. *ugh* Got up and got dressed on Monday morning to go to Uni and started to feel really dizzy, so driving anywhere was out of the question.

Daytime tv, even when you do have cable, realy really sucks. (My excuse is that it’s just “background noise” for while I am crocheting or knitting… ;) ;) )

Father God you say what ever we bind and loose on earth will be bound and loosed in heaven.

Lord I bind this sickness and the cause of it over Dani and loose health over her instead. Father God I ask that you give Dani a gift of strength, that will bolster her immune system, that she will have a clear head and her sinuses be clear. I ask that you restore her body to wholeness.

Father I thank you for hearing my prayers and Dani I speak this blessing over you

Dani I say unto you may your health be better than you have ever been before, may this sickness never return and may your health grow better and better each day.

P.S I say this over your mum as well.

Dani and Nunc: prayers.

I too am fighting the dreaded thing: I am not sure if I have been particularly lucky to get 3 strains [ominously around Parish Council times as well! ;-)], or 1 particularly insidiuous one which retreats and returns stronger.

I’m simply taking pills to relieve the sinuses and some stuff to clear the phlegm.  Horrid tasting stuff!

Thanks for your prayers guys!

I’m finally back at work (never taken 2 full weeks off for the flu before!!) and feeling healthier which makes a nice change! Now I just have to pray that it is going to stay away instead of hitting me again in another week or so.

Thanks again!
